Polio Boulevard is Karen Chase's moving memoir of contracting polio as a ten year old child. The Great Barrington Rotary club hosted her on October 8th, and was treated to a reading of portions of her book. It was a sober group who asked questions about her childhood experiences. She commended Rotary International's important role in the attempt to eradicate this devastating disease.

October 24th is World Polio Day, celebrating that there are only three endemic countries left. There are many successes, but unfortunately the remaining regions are in war torn parts of the world, making vaccination efforts very difficult. For more information, go to www.endpolio.org.
